Commenting on the name change, Michael Ramos, Vice President of Operations for Pocono Manor Investors -- which took over the property in December of 2005 -- said, "As we look to developing the region around the hotel and to making significant upgrades to the hotel itself, the new moniker better reflects the warmth and old world charm of this relaxing and historic retreat. The resort has a long and successful history, and we are excited about its future."
In addition, a new logo has been developed to visually signify the change. With colorful images of a golfer, diver, fly fisher and skier, it reflects the numerous sporting experiences and recreational activities available. For example, in addition to two award-winning 18-hole golf courses, there are on- site stables for horseback riding, indoor tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an outdoor ice skating area, cross country skiing and hiking trails, private trout streams, an Orvis Fly Fishing School, and sporting clay courses. There is also a full-service spa and facilities for year-round racquetball, shotgun training, archery and dog sledding.
The original hotel, which opened in 1902, is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places as a Historical District. Tucked into the mountains and offering 250 guestrooms and numerous public spaces for meetings and special events, The Inn at Pocono Manor boasts outstanding American stonework throughout, spectacular panoramic views and landscaping, and period furnishings. It is located just two hours driving time from New York City, and 18 miles west of the Delaware Water Gap.
